More Movie Fun
We've done this a couple times on here, but I'll remind you of the rules in case you've forgotten. 3 out of each grouping of 4 actors are from the same movie, the 4th is there to fuck with your mind. The only clue is that all of the extra actors are from the same movie. So if you can figure out the bonus it might make some of the other groupings easier. Try to name the movies, plus the bonus. Lets get to it:

1. Matt Damon, Greg Kinear, Bruce Willis, Eva Mendes
2. Jennifer Morrison, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Josh Hartnet
3. Jessica Alba, Mars Callahan, Christopher Walken, Chazz Palminteri
4. Christina Applegate, Britney Murphy, Steve Carrell, Will Ferrell
5. Vin Diesel, Nia Long, Giovanni Ribisi, Benicio Del Toro
6. Martin Lawrence, Will Smith, Jamie King, Gabrielle Union
7. Christian Bale, Katie Holmes, Michael Caine, Alexis Bledel
8. Michael Clarke Duncan, Paul Walker, Scott Caan, Jessica Alba
9. Pierce Brosnan, Mickey Rourke, Rene Russo, Denis Leary
10.Rachel Weisz, Dustin Hoffman, Rosario Dawson, Gene Hackman
11.Elijah Wood, Kevin Costner, Suzan Sarandon, Tim Robbins
12.Eva Mendes, Denzel Washington, Ethan Hawke, Clive Owen

I'll be back to drop some hints later if needed.

Is it 2010 yet?
Well the winter Olympics are over for another four years. Aside from the time difference between here and Italy I don't have any complaints about the last 17 days. Canada had its highest ever medal count bringing in 24 medals from 10 of the 14 events (more than any other country!). Lets take a moment to congratulate all of the Canadians bringing home more jewlery then they left with:

Jeffrey Buttle: Men's Figure Skating
Chandra Crawford: Women's Sprint Cross-Country
Duff Gibson: Men's Skeleton
Kristina Groves: Women's 1500m Speed Skating
Jennifer Heil: Women's Moguls
Mellisa Hillingsworth: Women's Skeleton
Clara Hughes: Women's 5000m Speed Skating
Cindy Klassen: Women's 1500m Speed Skating
Cindy Klassen: Women's 1000m Speed Skating
Cindy Klassen: Women's 5000m Speed Skating
Cindy Klassen: Women's 3000m Speed Skating
Anouk Leblanc-Boucher: Women's 500m Short Track
Dominique Maltais: Women's Snowboard Cross
Jeff Pain: Men's Skeleton
Francois-Louis Tremblay: Men's 500m Short Track
Women's Ice Hockey
Men's Curling
Men's Team Pursuit: Speed Skating
Women's Team Pursuit: Cross-County
Women's Team Pursuit: Speed Skating
Men's 5000m Relay: Short Track Speed Skating
Women's 3000m Relay: Short Track Speed Skating
Men's Two-man Bobsleigh
Women's Curling

On top of those 24 medals Canada also had 14 fourth place finishes, so the bar is being set even higher for the Vancouver Olympics. The closing ceremonies were solid, not quite as impressive as the opening ones but thats usually the case. The Canadian portion of the ceremony was pretty cool, passing the torch and such. We had Avril Levine representing us singing a song and looking HOT. I always thought she was good looking, but it must have been something about the olympic spirit or the Italian pasta because she looked really really rediculously good looking. Now that the Olympics are over all I have to look forward to are the World Baseball Classic, the run to the NHL playoffs and March Maddness. I think I'll make it.

This is why you don't drink Pepsi at 1am
Because you'll still be awake at 5...its good that the only thing on my schedule for tomorrow is a baseball draft at night.....i should be sorted out by then. I hope. Speaking of drafts, Travis Hafner is currently only eligble at the util spot in yahoo pools, I don't know how many games he played at first last year, but its gotta be at least as many as David Ortiz did (who has 1B eligibility). The only free tip I'm giving up right now is that if Hafner is still available in the 6-7th round I'm probably going to have to snag him up, so Steve, Tom, Maine and Wu use that information accordingly.
A-Rod: 1st overall
Okay thats all I'm going to make you read about baseball pools....for the rest of this post at least. I was gonna just throw a random 5 songs up in here too since we haven't seen one of those in a while, but that just doesn't kill enough time for me. So not only are you going to be treated to a random 5, but for no additional charge I'm throwing in my review of the songs.
Soriano: 3rd round
Damn (remix) - Ludacris, Bone Crusher and Youngbloodz
Well for starters its got Ludacris in it so you know I'm a fan, and of course his verse is far and away the best part of this song. Honestly though the rest of the song is pretty forgetable, its got Lil Jon yelling in the background too, and you know how much the kids love their Lil Jon these days. What? Yeah, h-okay! Like you didn't think that was gonna be there. I give it 3.5 stars.
Ichiro: 4th round
Intergalactic - Beastie Boys
Is there better smack talk then "I'll stir fry you in my wok"? Yeah probably, but right now its pretty amusing to me. I liked this video cause it had the breakdancing godzilla robot thingy. Wow this song came out 8 years ago...thats like old school joint of the day territory. 4 Stars.
Overbay: last round
Mercury Blues - Alan Jackson
This song fucking rocks. Its all about the power a Mercury has over your life and how much you need one. In classic country song style, the ownership of a Mercury leads to wife swapping...or at least thats how I hear the song. Seriously if you've never heard this song before, go listen to it, you'll be happy or my name isn't Leroy J. McGillicuddy. A solid 4.5 Stars.
Pedro: goin early
300 Bars and Runnin' - Game
Aight, you know all about rappers and their beefs right? They even made some movies about it, what were they called again? Oh yeah, BEEF. So anyway this song is pretty much Game ripping apart a number of other rappers (mainly G-Unit). Its about 15 minutes long and so it cycles through a few different beats. From Kanye's Diamonds from Sierra Leone to Lloyd Banks' I'm So Fly and even some of the theatrical score from The Good, The Bad and The Ugly (which I actually just watched tonight), and its got a few really good lines in it. But man, 15 minutes?! thats forever (foreva ever?) 3.5 Stars.
Schilling: 16th round
Triumph - Wu-Tang Clan
This is definitly one of my all-time favorite songs. Its got a great beat and great verses from all the Clan members. 'The Iron Lung ain't got to tell you where its commin from' you should listen to this right now, its that good. I should really make a list of my favorite songs, that'd be a good reading week procrastination effort. 5 stars, easy.
Wood: not drafting

Holy four-pitch walk Batman, its baseball season!
Hello internet people, by this point I'm sure you are aware that I have an slight large uncontrolable fantasy sports addiction. If you didn't know that, I'm assuming you either just got here about 4 seconds ago or you're deaf. Wait that doesn't make sense, you must be....blind? ***SUDDEN TRAIN OF THOUGHT SHIFT***

If you're deaf can you still listen to music? Wait, that might not be as stupid as it sounds, because you can still feel the vibrations and stuff right? Or say you were like 95% deaf, you could just crank the tunes and kinda hear it muffled. Or instead of being deaf from birth if somthing happend (like you listened to music too loudly) and you went 95% deaf you could still kinda 'feel' the beat, and you'd know in your head how it was supposed to go right? Okay enough of that, back to the planned post in 3...2...1...

So because of my addiction, I want start another pool (I've got my first draft on monday). But I want to do something a little different than the usuall yahoo straight drafts, and I've got a couple ideas.

First, instead of drafting players we draft teams, you pick one team and get all their players (or just the ones you want/need), then the 2nd round order is based on which teams went in the first round, so worst team gets first pick, y'know? Okay awsome idea right? You want in right? Good.

The second idea is an auction draft, each team gets somewhere between $5 and $10,000,000 to spend however they see fit. The amount doesn't matter because you're not really paying me...unless of course you want to. We could either do it like an actual auction, with fancy suits and numbered paddles and shit, hell I'll even try to talk really fast if you want. Or we could do it like a silent auction where you assign values to the players you want and whoever put the most money on each player gets em.

Alright now I have to make a confession. I just wrote this post knowing full well there is almost a 0% chance of either of those pools happening because for some reason I can't get people to feel the same excitement for these pools that I do. Fine I can accept that, I still think either of those pools would be 100% kickass. Now the confession, and the really true identifier of how scary my adiction is, I've already started thinking about my draft stratagy for two pools that probably won't exist outside of what you just read. Help me. Help me by telling me you want in on this addiction, and lets play some ball!

Give em up
I was gonna get on here and throw some baseball pool knowledge at you that you probably didn't want to read anyway, but then something else came along and saved you. Of course I'm just saving that baseball stuff for another day, but at least this is a little different.

There was a report on the news tonight about organ donation. In Ontario last year there was only about 150 total organs donated. The problem is that not many people have a signed organ donation card so when their time comes to punch out even if you wanted to donate they can't legally take anything. Unlike the illegal organ donation where you just wake up in a tub full of ice with a pain in your side.

Unless you have a strong religious, moral or logical reason for not wanting to give up your junk once you're no longer using it, sign your card. And make sure your family and/or significant other(s) know what you want done too, just in case. Think about it if you were on the other side of the table and you needed a little sumthin sumthin replaced, you'd be hopeing someone out there had their card signed. Right? Right.

Okay thats all I'm gonna say about that. I'll be back in a day or two talking about what I hate Travis Hafner and why I'm afraid of Mark Prior.

So I stayed up all night studying for a midterm that I was supposed to have today. I drank over 4L of pepsi and ate some halloween candy to get me through it (thats fucking gross), and then they went and closed the school down due to adverse weather. I'm not mad though, because as much as I felt comfortable with the material this thing was worth 50% and that was freaking me out a bit. So now I'm jacked out of my mind on caffine and sugar and I have no reason to stay up. So I'm going to put some olympics on and prerank some baseball players for my up comming drafts. Thats way better than studyin.

Jealous?
You should know that Beckie Scott and Dr. Gregory House are my valentines. Now you're jealous.

So I ended up getting to bed about 2pm this afternoon and just woke up about an hour ago. Its not a big deal because I don't have class tomorrow so who cares when I sleep til....except the first Canadian mens hockey game is on at 7am. So should I just stay up and go to bed after the game, or do I try to grab some more sleep and set an alarm for 7? The Olympics are all about sacrifices.

I'm glad I haven't gone to bed yet.

That was a great race. Yeah Canada!

The Weekend
  • That might be the worst post title this blog has seen in a while. Oh well at least you know what I'm gonna be talking about.

  • Do yourself a favour, order the Team Platter from Boston Pizza sometime. Make sure you're hungry though. You can thank me later. Hell, go crazy and get it on back to back nights. Thats what a real man would do.

  • I thought the opening ceremony for the Olympics was pretty kick ass. It puts a little pressure on us for 2010. Human doves, fire shooting skaters, cows on wheels, one of the Three Tenors and some wild firework displays. Good times.

  • Go see The Matador, according to a recent study you have a 50% chance of enjoying it. Its got James Bond, a good cock joke and it will probably make you jump at least once. Oh and there was some bull fighting, y'know if you're into that kinda thing.

  • I also got out to see Match Point, the more I think about the movie, the more impressed I get with it. Plus it had Scarlett Johansson and Brian Cox in it, and really who has beef with that? And it was full of accents, but they were all understandable, which is always nice.

  • To complete the movie trifecta I watched Red Eye at 2:30 in the morning as I was killing time before Beckie Scott's 4am start time. I also enjoyed this movie, and it had Rachel McAdams and Brian Cox in it, and really who has beef with that? The storyline was a little rediculous, but as usual I can let shit like that go as long as I'm entertained. Plus that dude that was the scarecrow in Batman Begins was really good in his role, I forget his name, and even though I just had IMDB open to get that link I'm too lazy to go back and check. Its an unusual first name anyway...whatever the hell it is.

  • If you're not watching these olympics you need to get on this bandwaggon now. In just two days there has already been too many great competitions for me to even get into right now. Moguls, cross country skiing, hockey, speed skating, downhill, snowboard halfpipe and even figure skating is great when medals are on the line.

  • You don't have to read this line, I'm already outta here.

I told you I love mogulers!

    Olympics, Jays and Raps

  • I can't wait for the olympics! This is gonna rock. Canada's men start their quest for hockey gold one week from today. Plus I'll be getting my fill of all those great sports that I only watch every 2 years. Bobsleding, snowboarding, mogul...ing what do you call a moguler anyway? And of course the cross country pursuit, which is being defended by Canada's own Beckie Scott. She was asked to carry the Canadaian flag at the opening ceremony on friday, but she declined, and Don Cherry ripped into her. This was like two weeks ago, but I've been sitting on it til the olympics got closer (okay thats a lie, I've just been procrastinating). Her reason for turning it down was that her event is two days after the ceremony and she didn't want any distractions. Seems reasonable to me. I'll admit I'm biased because Beckie Scott is my favorite Canadian olympian, but if someone has trained for 4 years for a single event I think I'd cut them some slack.

  • The best part about these olympics is that because they are being held in Italy the time difference puts all the events on live between 3am and 3pm our time. Fortunatley the earliest a hockey game is on is 7am. Thats doable. But if I want to watch Beckie Scott live (which I do) its gonna be a 4am wake-up call, or more likely just me staying up til then. Who needs a regulated sleep patern anyway, right?

  • Benjie Molina signed on to catch for the Blue Jays, just another upgrade on the old Jays comming up towards the new season. Seriously if you're not starting to get excited I might have to punch some excitment into your face, Jack Bauer style (Steve I'm looking in your direction). If you are starting to get excited and are thinking about how kickassawsome it would be to participate in a fantasy baseball pool this year, I think by now you know who to 'holla' at.

  • Guess who is back in Raptor land? Antonio Davis! I find this amusing to no end. Davis was probably the most hated ex-Raptor not named Vince. I don't even remember the details about him leaving, but it was something along the lines of demanding a trade because he wanted his kids out of the country before we got them all head-fucked with out Canadian ways. Oooooooh the metric system is comming to get you! Anyway the Raps traded Jalen Rose to get him back in what is nothing more than a money dump to get some breathing room with the salary cap. Man, I would've paid good money to see the reaction he had when he got the news.

Knicks: Uh, hey Antontio, sorry to tell you but you've been traded.
Antonio: Ok, no problem this team is fucked anyway. So where am I headed?
Knicks: Well there is good news and bad news, which do you want first?
    Antonio: Gimme the good.
Knicks: The good news is that you don't have far to move.
    Antonio: And the bad?
    Knicks: You're going to Toronto.
Antonio: ...hahaha oh shit, you guys got me good. I thought you were serious there for a second. "You're going to Toronto", haha aight guys I'll seeya tomorrow. Wait, why arn't you laughing?
    Knicks: *slowly backing away*

    Seahawks 30 - Steelers 24
Thats my official prediction. I don't have any strong feeling on how the game is gonna go, but I hate the Steelers so I'm cheering for the 'Hawks. Oh and I hope Joey Porter does nothing tomorrow...Freddie Mitchel style.

I've got nothing else to say of any interest, so I'm just gonna do up this music thingy (I hate the word meme)that I totally stole this from the internet:

    1) A favorite political track:
    Why - Jadakiss
This and 'Mosh' by Eminem were the only two political tracks I could even think of, but 'Why' is a solid track so I'm happy with it.

    2) One of those tracks that make you dance on the dance floor no matter what:
    Big Pimpin' - Jay-Z
You can't deny the power of this song.

    3) The song you’d use to tell someone you love them:
No One Needs to Know Right Now - Shania Twain
This isn't really the most appropriate song for this one, but its better than 'Ms. Fat Booty' by Mos Def.

    4) A song that has made you sit down and analyze its lyrics:
Fifty Mission Cap - The Tragically Hip
If you don't know the Bill Barilko story I definitly suggest you look into it. I bought the book Without A Trace because of the song.
"The last goal he ever scored, won the Leafs the Cup
They didn't win another til 1962, the year he was discovered"

    5) A song that you like, that a two year old would like as well:
Are You That Somebody? - Aaliyah and Timbaland
I like the song because its great, and the two year old likes the song because its got that trademark Timbaland 'baby sound' in it. It'd be like they were communicating with each other.

    6) A song that gives you an energy boost:
Break Ya Neck - Busta Rhymes
If the beat from this song doesn't get you pumped up then there is nothing I can do to help you.

    7) A song that you and your grandparents would (probably) like:
In the Mood - Glenn Miller
This is old school big band music, and you'd probably know it if you heard it.

    8) A song that you really liked when you were 12-14, and still really like now:
Do you know how many songs were released from 1994-1996 that I still really like? A lot.
    Until It Sleeps - Metallica
Bulls on Parade/People of the Sun - Rage Against the Machine
    What I Got - Sublime
California Love - Tupac and Dre
Come Out and Play - The Offspring
Gin and Juice - Snoop Doggy Dogg
Black Hole Sun/Spoon Man - Soundgarden
    Loser/Where its At - Beck
    Mr. Jones - Counting Crows
    Sabotoge - Beastie Boys
Man Who Sold the World - Nirvana
Seriously, I could keep going with this one for a while so I'd better stop now.

    9) A sad song that would be in the soundtrack of the movie about your life:
The Theme from the Littlest Hobo
If that doesn't make you cry then you must be a robot.

    10) A peppy song that would start the opening credits of the movie about your life:
    Whoa! - Black Rob
If they make a movie about my life this song had better be in it.

    11) A good song from a genre of music that no one would guess that you liked:
Money for Nothing - Dire Straits
What would you guess I don't like? I dunno, but this song is gonna have to do.

    12) A song that you think should have been playing when you were born:
Virgo - Ludacris, Nas and Doug E. Fresh
Are there songs for any one elses astrological sign? Yeah I thought so.

    13) A favorite artist/duo collaboration:
Da Rockwilder - Method Man and Redman
The only thing wrong with this song is that its too short. 2:18? c'mon.

    14) A favorite song that you completely disagree with (politically, morally, commonsenically, religiously etc.)
Cereal Killer - Method Man and Redman
Its kinda tough to support multiple murder...regardless of how good the song is. The standard one murder per song is allowable, but this is just rediculous.

    15) The song that you like despite the fact your IQ level drops several points every time you listen to it:
    Rain Man - Eminem
He even says it himself "And I ain't even gotta make no goddamned sense, I just did a whole song and I didn't say shit". But I still love it just the same.

    16) Your smooth song for relaxing:
    Bobcaygeon - The Tragically Hip
    This song is pure relaxation.

    17) A song you would send to someone you hate or are mad at:
    Puke - Eminem
Eminem pretty much dominates the 'I hate you' market on songs.
"You're a fucking cokehead slut I hope you fucking die,
I hope you get to hell and satan sticks a needle in your eye
I hate your fucking guts you fucking slut I hope you die"

Now thats what I call angry!

    18) A favorite track from an outfit considered a super group:
    Triumph - Wu-Tang Clan
Any song that has Ol' Dirty Bastard threatening to "rub yo' ass in the moonshine" in the intro has to be great.

    19) A song that makes you reminisce about good times with a family member:
    Hellman - Millencolin
I got listening to Millencolin because of my sister so I have to mentally thank her each time I hear one of their songs. Good times indeed.

    20) Your favorite song at this moment in time:
Either 'Help Me Out' or 'Smile in ya Face' by Black Rob
Why haven't you got The Black Rob Report yet?
