Better Late Then Never
Alrighty, Tom has sparked the creative juices around here with his Fantasy Baseball Wrapup post, and hopefully Steve will complete the Bacon Strips trifecta later today. I don't think we've had a day with a post from each of us yet...but I'll have to check to be sure*. I've got so many things that I've been meaning to talk about over the last couple weeks that I never got up here that I don't know where to start now. So I'm just gonna throw some stuff around as it floats through my head. I apologize in advance for the lack of structue and the ramblings...but you get whats you pay for.

How 'bout them Astros. Damn. 18 innings, 5 hours and 50 minutes, over 550 pitches. What a crazy game, I listened to the first 8 1/2 innings on the radio in my room as I was being educational, and decided to head downstairs to the tv to see if the Astros could pull of some magic in the bottom of the 9th. After Ausmus tied the game with his two-out homer I said to my roommate "shit, they'll probably go 17 innings just to keep me from working" who knew that I was underestimating. The Astros used every player they had in the park except Roy Oswalt who pitched the day before (Andy Pettitte was MIA...probably in Atlanta awaiting the potential game 5). Roger Clemens was brought into the game as a pinch hitter. Stuff like that is why the DH rule is for pansies. Of all the crazy things that happened in the game, like Chris Burke being the first rookie with a series winning walk-off homer, THIS might be the craziest of them all. Buddy over here caught not only Burke's game winner, but Berkman's grandslam ball too!

I've been watching a lot of the Gameshow Network lately, its the perfect time filler. If you need it for a commercial break or to fill in a full half hour its always there pumping out the hits. As much as I love Jeopardy I think its pretty safe to say that the most dominant game show of all-time was/is The Price is Right. Mainly because its the first gameshow that as a child you feel like you could go on and actually win something. Plus it never gets old, when you get older you can just turn it into a drinking game. One of the best part of any game show of course is watching the contestants that make you feel good about yourself. You know the ones that make you yell at them through the tv. "What are you buying a vowel for just solve the damn puzzle!!" So in honour of the game show theme here are a couple great links: first up from the Phat Phree a great article called You Can't Plinko For Shit You Dumb Whore. Plus this illiterate lifeline waster.

One more thing about game shows. Don't you love it when you get the Final Jeopardy question right and none of the contestants do? Usually it takes some kind of random sports question or something Canadian based to stump all three trivia buffs, and this one is definitly Canadian based, but I kinda thought it was more common knowledge. I forget the exact wording of the question, but it was something like this: "What was the name of the ship that sank in Lake Superior in November 1975 that gained fame through a Gordon Lightfoot song?". Oops I guess I shouldn't have writen that part in the form of a question, but you know what I'm talkin bout. I mean thats a pretty famous song isn't it? And the name of the ship is right there in the title, its not as though they asked who "Fifty Mission Cap" was written about.
You answered 'Buck', and your wager...Futter....Buck Futter!

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water...Killer Whales! Don't worry, these ones are in captivity...for now. These ones are special though cause they've started using the fish they were being fed to catch sea gulls that land on the surface of the water to feed. Then they get hit with the pain Free Willy style. Thats why I don't have a pet killer whale, they're just too damned crafty. Not like shoebox diarama crafty though, like kill you in your sleep crafty. Then you gotta count on Grissom to come in and figure out where your body went and why it smells like fish.

Well I was gonna put the rosters for my fantasy hockey teams into this post too, but I think I've covered enough ground to save that for another day. So instead I'll just end it here.

*I ain't checking shit
