First things first, today at 3pm was the NHL trade deadline. More trades were made today (25) than in any of the last 4 seasons. However the trades that were made, uh, kinda lacked in the star player department. Names like Bertuzzi, McCabe, Jokinen, Tkachuk and Belfour were being thrown around as potential movers, but all stayed with their clubs. The biggest moves that were made involved the Senators getting Tyler Arnason to play on their 2nd line. Sergi Samsonov heading to Edmonton to add some scoring to the Oiler lineup. Brendan Witt adding to the depth of the Predators defence crew. Keith Carney and Sandish Ozolinsh doing the same for Vancouver and the Rangers respectivly. The biggest trade is probably Mark Recchi waving his no-trade clause to join the Carolina Hurricanes. The only player the Red Wings added to their team today was Cory Cross, Leaf fans might remember him as the defenceman that used to make Aki Berg look good. So needless to say I'm super impressed...even though I said it anyway.
