Wow, did I actually learn stuff in school?
I watched 'The Scholar' tonight, its a reality show placing 10 U.S. high school students against each other for a grand prize of a full scholarship to the school of their choice (4 others get $50,000 to put towards school).
Tonight was the second show (I missed the first one) and I think the 10 kids there are supposed to be super smart (at least the ones they focused on were...i dunno if they slipped a couple dummies in there). At the end of the show 3 of the kids are chosen to go head-to-head to win a spot in the final 5 (the big money round), its kinda like the spelling bee format, where one kid gets asked a question, if they're right they stay, if they're wrong its back to the bench to hope for another shot. Then the next kid gets a different question and so on until someone wins (there can be only one!!!). ANYway the whole point to this post was that I thought the questions these kids got asked were kinda easy. The subject for this weeks challenge was biology:

1. How many chambers does the heart have?
2. The spinal cord and brain are parts of what system?
3. What is the longest bone in the human body? (get your minds outta the gutter!)
4. The intestine and stomach are parts of what system?
5. Veins carry blood to the heart, what do arteries do?
6. Ligaments join bone to bone, what connects muscle to bones?***
7. If I were talking about your dermis and epidermis, to what would I be refering?***

And heres the question that won it all

8. What does RNA stand for?

Ok granted I've had 4 years of university science that these kids haven't goten to yet...but don't these questions seem a little easy for 10 of the smartest high schoolers in America??
